Instructor Information
Hello everyone, and welcome to class. I am a psychologist and college professor, and will be your instructor for the next several weeks. I have been teaching at community colleges since 1995, and greatly appreciate the variety of students in my classes, who have all sorts of interesting backgrounds and life stories. I hope that you will enjoy learning in this class as much as I enjoy teaching it. To give you some background: I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lamar University, near where I grew up in Texas. My master’s degree and doctorate are from Brown University in Rhode Island. After graduate school, I served as a research psychologist in the Navy for a few years, and then accepted a college teaching position in Georgia, where I currently live. Outside work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, listening to music, and traveling (when I have time). I am also very committed to community service, and spend much of my spare time helping students in Georgia connect with meaningful volunteer opportunities. I believe that education is the key to improving people’s lives, and I am grateful that you have given me the opportunity to facilitate a small part of your learning journey.
