    On-Campus Meetings:

There will be one on-campus for the final exam. If you cannot attend the exam meeting, you will have to find an instructor approved proctor (for example: a librarian, an educational officer) and an approved site (such as a library or an educational center) to take the exam. Friends or family members are not suitable proctors.

Students are expected to take tests when they are scheduled and each test must be completed during a specific time. If a test is taken late, the overall grade will be lowered one letter grade. If a student fails to notify me with a valid excuse before the scheduled test, I will determine if the student may make up the test.

In the box below type, I understand there is one meeting for this course (the final). If I am unable to take the final on the main campus, or at Barstow College's Ft. Irwin or Miramar sites, I understand it is my responsibility to find a proctor with access to a computer and the Internet.  I understand I must fill out the syllabus in order to complete this course and that I should complete the online orientation if I am unsure how to navigate and use this course.

    Academic Honesty:

Plagiarism is claiming as your own a paper, report, article, outline, or speech that was (in whole or in part) prepared by someone other than yourself. Material quoted from readings must be noted.

You must do your own work. Papers, quizzes, tests, etc. must be your own work in your own words.

When "borrowing" ideas from another source, you must ALWAYS give credit. If you have information you did not research yourself or that did not come directly from your head, you must cite that reference. Claiming work as your own that is not yours is plagiarism. Plagiarism will result in failure of the course.

In the box below type, I understand what plagiarism is and know that committing plagiarism will result in failure of the course.

    Other Information:

*A syllabus is not a contract between instructor and student but rather a guide to course procedures on attendance, requirements, grading, and objectives. The instructor reserves the right to amend the syllabus when emergency circumstances dictate. Students will be duly notified.

*If you have any disabilities that will affect your progress in this class, please discuss with me and/or contact the SPS Director. All other medical or personal issues must also be discussed with me so we can work out any arrangements that may need to be made.

*There must be absolute support for your fellow students in my class. I will not tolerate snide comments or a negative attitude. Any and all personality conflicts between students must be left outside of the discussion boards.

*I do grade on attitude and participation. I want to know you are using your brain in my class. I want to hear your thoughts and know your opinions and have open and honest dialogue. Critical thinking is essential to a good education. I will grade on your openness to share in the discussion group. I also base my grading on students’ attitudes. Negative attitudes hinder progress and bring down the morale of a class.

*Do not take your education for granted. You get out of your education what you put into it. You chose to attend college. You are not being forced to be in this class and you are paying for it. There are places on this planet where people are not free to pursue an education. Being a college student means making sacrifices. If you chose to take this path, then know you’re making the right decision and honor it and honor yourself.

In the box below type, I understand the other information section of the MUSI 2 syllabus and agree to follow the standards outlined therein.  I also understand a syllabus is not a contract between instructor and student but rather a guide to course procedures on attendance, requirements, grading, and objectives. My  instructor reserves the right to amend the syllabus when emergency circumstances dictate. I will be duly notified should this occur.
