Start
Before you get started with this course make sure you
understand the
information on this page. To ensure your understanding you
will be required to
take a quiz at the end of the lecture. This quiz is worth ten
points toward your
week one grade. Below is a list of four items you need to complete before
you can begin
working on any of the lessons. You can complete these items
by clicking the
underlined links. HINT: Anytime you see an underlined word
or phrase in our course pages it
is actually a link to another page or location.
You will first need to read and complete the Interactive
Syllabus. This syllabus will familiarize you with
what is expected in
this course and what you can expect of me. Your completed
syllabus is worth five points toward your week one class
participation grade.
If this is your first online course go to
the
Orientation Area and complete the orientation
quiz.
If you are unable to attend
the final exam meeting, complete the Proctor Form using the proctor
form
instructions as a guide.
I have provided several tools to help this course run smoothly for you. Please take a few minutes to print and/or read the following items. Keep them handy so you can refer to them when needed.

Plagiarism - Use this link to read the information I have provided on plagiarism. You will be required to abide by it when submitting your case studies.

Below are a few additional items you need to read. They will help you understand what is required in this course.
Quizzes: The passwords for all our class quizzes can be found on our class discussion board.
Midterm Exam: The midterm exam will consist of 75 multiple-choice questions. The midterm exam will be taken at home.
You can use your textbook, notes, quizzes, and online lectures when completing the exam.Final Exam: The final exam will consist 100 multiple-choice questions. The final exam must be taken at the final exam meeting or via an instruction-approved proctor. See the Interactive Syllabus for further details.

Reading Assignments: You will need to read both my online lectures and the assigned chapters in your textbook to successfully complete this course. The assignments and exams will be based on both.
Required Time: I recommend you plan on spending approximately 6 to 7 hours each week for this course.
Late Assignments: All late assignments will receive a reduction in points. See the grading criteria to determine how many points will be reduced.
Computer Labs: Please free to use the Barstow College Computer Labs if needed. Contact the lab technicians for the hours the labs are open at 252-2411 ext. 7288.
Office Hour: If you need an immediate answer to a question my office hour is the best time to contact me. My office hours are:
Mon, Wed, and Fri from 3 to 5 p.m. PST
Our class office hour is a time when you can call me to get answers to your questions. Call me at (760)217-4589. You will be able to get immediate answers to your questions during this time.
Perferred Contact Methods
Email: Since this is an online course, I do except the majority of communication to be online. You can email me at any time. I check my email twice a day, except on Sundays and Holidays.
Text Messaging: Due to my position, I am in meetings frequently. Hence, if you need to contact me for an immediate answer the best method is to text me at 760-217-4589. Even if I am in a meeting I can promptly reply to a text message, but cannot answer my cell. Hence, you are likely to get an answer quicker if you text me.
FAQ Discussion Thread: In the Frequently Asked Questions thread, I have posted questions that I find students frequently ask. Check here before posting a question, emailing me, or texting me. If you question is already answered on this thread, you will be able to get your answer right away and not have to wait for a response.
Discussion Board: You can post questions on the designated thread on our discussion board. Please Note: If you need an immediate answer, don't post here. Text me instead. OR if your question is of a personal nature don't post here. Every student in our class can read what you post.
Please check the questions thread regularly. You may be able to answer a question for a fellow student and I always look at such assistance favorable.
Subject lines: Please use the appropriate subject line when submitting an assignment. I will include this subject line in any assignment that requires one.

Please keep in mind that it can be easy to get behind in an online course. Hence, it is important that you do not put off getting started.
