Email Updates

One of the primary methods of contact in an online course is email. Your college is capable of extracting student names and email addresses from our registration system. The purpose of extracting this information is twofold. The information will be used by the instructor to remain in contact with the class in order to provide information necessary for the students' academic success. The information will also be used to send emails to the students from the college administration. The emails sent by the college administration will consist of links to course surveys which will be used to improve our online courses, important announcements for students, and links to college surveys, which will be used to satisfy requirements placed on the college by the California Community College Chancellor's Office. The college will not use this information to advertise any products and will not share student email addresses with any other organization.

In the box below type the following information:

As a student I understand it is my responsibility to ensure my email address is up to date in the registration system, and that failure to do so can seriously impact my ability to successfully complete my courses. Further, I consent to receive email communication from my instructor and from the college administration. This consent will remain in force until it is revoked in writing or I am no longer taking classes with the college. Upon submitting the syllabus, I agree to enter the registration system, check my email address and change it if necessary. I understand a tutorial is available to assist me with this procedure. I also understand I can contact 760-252-2411 x7236 to receive additional assistance if I encounter any difficulties when attempting to change my email address.

Paragraphs: About 15 to 20 sentences, tables, graphs, etc. Paragraph is not a single sentence!

  1. Paragraph: Purpose, product or service, and market.

  2. Paragraph: Short-term objectives (up to 1 year) and long-term (beyond): desired market share, chain, growth strategy, etc.

  3. Paragraph: SWOT analysis (one of your online homework postings) list competing businesses from the phone book yellowpages as your threat, opportunity: your new niche, weakness: your weak entrant position, budget, rent; and finally strength: flexibility, ability to change, adapt, re-invent to acknowledge market trends, threats, and weaknesses.

  10. Summary to appeal to your investor (ME) whom you desire to invest in your company or help start financially.

This is a lot of work so start early!

As you see, this business plan requires of you at least 10 paragraphs of work, a SWOT analysis, and the conclusion. It is your business plan and not the ATT's, Apple's, etc. Corporate business plans will not be graded. What I am looking for is your idea of a business you yourself would like to start or thought of in the past. e.g. coffee shop or small hot dog stand!

I am your banker, and remember, the unrealistic, careless, or not serious business plans will not be considered for the grade. This is 40% of your grade.

Submit in Word doc/ double-spaced/ Times New Roman script/ size 12/ proofread/spell-checked/ in APA or MLA style with title page and bibliography page by due date for week 7; emailed to tstanek@bcconline.com

C. Final Exam: multiple-choice (Proctored and online accessible) Proctor Form must be submitted. (study guide will be given 1 week prior)

D. Online forum: The weekly discussion questions come from the supplemental readings (e.g. saved as a PDF attachment below the online lesson) and must be answered and posted by the deadline. Failure to post will result in a grade ‘zero’ in your attendance component (20% of your total grade).

Full attendance and active participation in the online forum discussions is the expectation (2 consecutive absences may drop you from the course). This course incorporates discussion of the historical and contemporary issues in business management. The quality of the learning environment depends on your attendance and participation. On the occasion that you must miss class you are expected to contact the professor prior to the class meeting, and provide a valid, legitimate, substantiated explanation for your absence. Discussion must be posted in a timely manner. Poor content, missed posts, vulgar language, and plagiarism will not be tolerated resulting in F grade or pre-mature forced course withdrawal.

A standard posts include your answers to the questions, issues or dilemmas, and a follow-up comments on others' posts. A minimum of two posts per week are expected from each student. The content and the quality of the posts and the discussions reflect the grade. You may earn a D or an A by posting the minimum two posts. It is the quality and not the quantity that determines the grade.

Your participation in class is valued and graded. This includes your contribution to whole group discussion and work in small groups. If you are not present or tardy you cannot contribute or learn from the contributions of your classmates.

Grading

Students are not to post in the instructor's posting area. Should you have a concern with your class please email me your question. It is not appropriate for students to post their concerns in the instructor's posting area. Students who post in the instructor's posting area will receive a warning and their posting will be deleted unanswered.
