Your Instructor (from our historical archives):
John Stacy Mr. Stacy has been an English Instructor in California colleges since 1970. He teaches at Long Beach City College and holds the position of professor emeritus for Barstow College after having taught on the Barstow Campus full-time for thirty-one years. He has taught English not only at Long Beach City, and Barstow but at Cal-State Long Beach, USC, and UC Riverside, but says he has always enjoyed his community college students the most. He currently resides with his wife and dog near the university campus in Long Beach, California. Many of his students have gone on to achieve high distinction as teachers, doctors, business leaders, professional writers, and even California state senate leaders (Gloria Romero - Democrat). Mr. Stacy believes: a. That the instructor and the student must give equally to the course, that there is no education without total commitment by both parties. He will do his job completely and enthusiastically and expects you to do yours the same way. b. In total "A-ness." If any student totally assumes the role and responsibilities of an "A" student that is the grade he or she will earn. c. That students who thoroughly spell-check and proof-read their assignments before submitting them will have happier love lives and eventually achieve great wealth. d. That students who email him with questions about the material or the class are brighter than the other students and will no doubt get better grades: jstacy@bcconline.com e. That he is still as young as he appears in the picture above f.. Any student can fail any class with a minimal amount of effort. If you want to fail just do the following: Come to class late and miss when you feel like it. Sit in the back where no one will bother you. Don't bother to proofread, or even to send in assignments. Leave early. You might meet someone interesting in the snack bar.
