There are basically two types of e-mail systems. They are e-mail applications and web-based e-mail. E-mail applications may be Netscape Messenger, Outlook Express, Outlook, AOL e-mail, and Eudora. Examples of web-based e-mail are Hotmail and Yahoo.
To Set Up a New E-Mail Account:
Following are the steps to setting up a new, free Hotmail e-mail account. If you already have an e-mail account, you can skip to Composing a Message.
When you type in your Sign-In name and password, type a name and password that has some special significance to you. An example of a Sign-In name is a combination of your first and last name, like mine (g_hend for Gloria Henderson). Since most of the common Sign-In names are already used, the Sign-In name that you enter may not be accepted and similar names may be suggested. You may select one of the suggestions provided for you after you type the Sign-In name you like. Your password can be anything you will remember, such as your mother's name or a pet's name or part of your phone number. WRITE YOUR SIGN-IN NAME AND PASSWORD DOWN ON A PIECE OF PAPER AND KEEP IT! DON'T TELL ANYONE YOUR PASSWORD!
To Exit E-Mail
Since you have established an e-mail account, you can exit until you are ready to send or receive messages.
