My name is Gloria Henderson. Here I am in a picture with my son, Lloyd, at his community college graduation.

I believe strongly that community colleges do an excellent job of preparing students to be successful when they transfer to four-year institutions. First, I attended Compton Community College. Next I transferred to California State University at Long Beach where I graduated magna cum laude. Then I earned my master's degree in Business Administration with an option in Administrative Systems.

During my first years of teaching, I taught at the high school level. I have a secondary teaching credential and a community college teaching credential. When we moved to the high desert, I began teaching at the community college level. For more than 13 years, I have been a full-time community college instructor. 

In the last ten years, I wrote six computer textbooks for several major publishing companies. In 1993, I was given the Outstanding Educator Award by the Victorville Chamber of Commerce.

I raised three sons named Greg, Lloyd, and Alex.  Greg attended a community college and transferred to UCLA. Greg graduated recently. After completing high school, Alex moved in with his older brother, Greg, and is employed now. Lloyd graduated from community college and is now attending California State University at San Bernardino.
