Final Exam

On Campus or Fort Irwin

Time and Place: To Be Arranged

Length of Test: 2 Hours

The proctor can access the final exam by clicking the Final link on the home page.

  • The final exam must be taken on campus, at Fort Irwin, or pre-arranged with an instructor-approved proctor. You must show identification to the instructor or proctor prior to taking the exam.

If you cannot take the exam at the time specified, let me know. No make-up exams are scheduled. Be aware that missing the exam could seriously jeopardize your grade in this course.

If you are taking the exam at Fort Irwin, send me a message to let me know. Then contact Peggy or Jose and make arrangements with one of them.

To use a proctor, you must have submitted the Proctor Form previously that allows me to make prior arrangements with the proctor for sending and receiving the exam. The approved site will need Microsoft Office 2002.

The exam is broken into two parts:

 1.    Theory

Closed Book.  One 8 1/2" by 11" page of notes (one side only) is allowed during the exam. Review the lesson quizzes you have taken.

 2.     Production

Excel files completed for the exam must be submitted on a floppy disk or attached to e-mail and sent to me; no printed copies are needed. Bring a disk with you for the exam.

Excel Competency

Understanding how the formulas are done will help you in Excel, but there is not enough time to do more than introduce you to a variety of formulas and give you an idea of how Excel uses the formulas to perform a variety of tasks. You will not become an expert at troubleshooting or designing complex formulas until you use Excel more often. If you have a job where you use Excel, I hope you have learned enough to start applying what you have learned to your job and continue getting better and better at it.

Remember that you do best what you do most. When you have time, try to create a budget for yourself using what you have learned. If you keep using Excel, you will get more and more comfortable with it. If you understand the material in this book, you are ready for an entry-level job using Excel, and you can feel confident that you could perform the basic tasks that are needed to be competent in Excel. If you plan to take the MOUS Certification expert test, you may want to complete Lessons 16-20 on your own.

Remember it is a closed book exam, although, you can have a page of notes.
