Below are the discussion board questions for each lecture. You can type your answer to each question in a word processor, such as WordPad, Word, or WordPerfect, and then copy and paste your answer to the discussion board. Be sure you post your answer by the due date as well as your responses to two other students. Late postings will not receive credit. Introduction Message

Please post an introductory message to our discussion board so  you and your fellow students can get to know each other. You will not receive credit for this posting. It is for your benefit to get to know each other.

Discussion Chapter One: Making Ethical Decisions

Throughout the textbook, you will see a box in each chapter called “Making Ethical Decisions.” You will be given a short description of a situation and then asked what you would do in that situation. It is up to you to decide whether you will read these situations or not. I will have no real way of knowing if you read the boxes and answered the questions. Hence, reading them will be “on your honor.”

This is your first ethical situation in this course: You come to a “Making Ethical Decisions” box in your text. What do you decide to do? Read and answer the questions or skip it and go on? Post your decision to the discussion board and the reasons why you chose that decision. The questions below are a guide you can use to determine exactly what you will do. Don’t post your answers to these questions on the board, rather just post your decision as to what you will do.

What is the problem?

What are your alternatives?

What are the effects of each alternative?

Which alternative will you choose? Why?

Is your choice ethical? (Would you want your family and professor to know of your decision? Would you want it printed in the school paper? Is it fair to all parties involved?)

Don’t make this too stressful an exercise. You will get credit based on your participation and not on your decision.

Week Two Discussions

Discussion Chapter Two: The Rule of 72

On our Week Two Start Page you will find the Discussion link that discusses the Rule of 72. First, complete the assignment. Next, post a paragraph to the discussion board with your thoughts on this rule. Do you think it is something you will use in the future? What would you use the rule for? What would you not use it for?

Remember, to post a comment to two of your fellow students to receive full credit for the discussion.

Week Four Discussions

Discussion Chapter Seven:  Career SWOT Analysis

Chapter Seven provides information concerning a SWOT analysis. A SWOT analysis is a very important component of business. In this week's discussion, you will first conduct a personal SWOT analysis and then post a paragraph to the discussion board summarizing your findings. I think you will find this exercise very informative and revealing.

Week Five Discussions

Discussion Chapter Eleven: Management Selection

In the Discussion Link for Week Five, you will be given the resumes of four people. You have two jobs that you need to fill with these four resumes. After completing the exercise in the lecture, post a one paragraph summary to the discussion board detailing who you choose for the positions and why.

Find two of your fellow students who selected different candidates than you did and post a comment to their posting. Please no criticizing each other's decisions. Only post meaningful and constructive comments.

Week Six Discussions

Discussion Chapter Thirteen: Identifying the Target Market

In the Discussion Link for Week Six you will be given several products and be asked to select a target market for these products. Once you have completed the exercise, pick one of the products and post one paragraph to the discussion board summarizing who you determined to be the target market for that product.

Find two students who posted concerning a different product than you and post a meaningful reply to their posting.

Week Seven Discussions

Discussion Chapter Eighteen:  Budgetary Control

In the Discussion Link for Week Seven you will be given an assignment where you will need to analyze the budget of a certain company and determine where the problems are in this budget. You will be given three questions to answer with this assignment. Post your answer to these three questions on the discussion board.

Week Eight Discussions

Discussion Chapter Twenty: Bartering

In the Discussion Link for Week Eight you will be given a situation where you need a pair of jeans, but rather than using money you will use the bartering system to get your jeans. Figure out what it would take to get the jeans and post your conclusion to the board. Then post a second paragraph on your thoughts concerning the barter system as compared to using money to buy what you need.
