Grading Criteria For Class Assignments
Below is a guide for you when completing assignments. This tells you exactly what you can expect when I grade your assignments.
Homework Practice Tests
There will be twenty problems on your practice tests. Each problem is worth one point. You will receive credit for each problem you solve even if your solution is incorrect. I recommend you compare your practice test answers to my keys before taking your chapter quiz. Each practice test submitted after the due date will receive a ten percent deduction in grade. Please understand that the ten percent reduction is equal to 2 points.
Chapter Quizzes
There are twenty-five problems on each quiz. Each problem is worth one point. I will deduct a point for each problem answered incorrectly. Each quiz submitted after the due date will receive a ten percent deduction in grade. Please understand that the ten percent reduction is equal to 2.5 points.
Discussion Board
Each chapter's discussion question is worth 10 points. The discussions consists of three parts.
Part One: Post your answer to the question that has been posed to your team. (3 points)
Part Two: Reply to the answers provided by two of your team mates. Each reply is worth 1.5 points. (3 points)
Part Three: Review the answers posted by the other class teams. This way you benefit from their answers and learn from each other. Reply to one member of each team. Each reply is worth 1 point. (4 points)
You will not receive credit for just saying you agree, for repeating what the other student has said, or simply repeating what your original posting said.
Exams
I have opted to give you three exams rather than a Midterm and Final. In a class such as Business Math, students tend to find this less stressful. You will be able to use your book for all exams. Each question on the Exams is worth two points. Exams One and Two have 50 questions/problems and Exam Three will have 75 questions/problems. Exam Three will be taken as a Final Exam, so you will be required to have a proctor for it. The Exams *must* be taken in the week they are assigned.
