Information:
Prof.
Michael L. Beshears is a retired Army Senior Noncommissioned Officer whose 20+
year career has taken him to numerous locations including three years in Berlin
Germany. His vast military training includes: Special Forces - working
undercover in various covert operations, as well as assisting other agencies in
their performance of criminal investigations. He also has an extensive
background in emergency medicine and intensive care medical treatment, as a
special forces medic, emergency medical technician and licensed practical nurse.
Prof.
Beshears earned four college degrees while serving in the military via evening
and night college courses. These include an Associate of Arts in General
Studies, Baccalaureate of Science degrees in both Criminal Justice and
Psychology through Drury College, Springfield, Missouri. He graduated with
honors with a Masters of Arts degree in Health Service Management from Webster
University, Saint Louis, Missouri. He and his wife (pictured with him) also have
a Masters of Science degree in Criminology from Indiana State University.
It should be noted that he is recognized as a
member of the National Honor Society and the American College of Health Care
Executives.
Prof.
Beshears has twenty-six years experience as a judo practitioner and instructor,
teaching numerous YMCA and youth group self-defense courses, to include a course
for the Kentucky State Highway Patrol and other police departments. His intense
interest and knowledge of the criminal justice field has been demonstrated in
the numerous civic lectures and seminars taught to various police and community
groups. He has worked side-by-side with Arkansas's local and State police in
various investigations and is sought-out for his insight and
knowledge in
criminal justice, corrections and security.
He has instructed
undergraduate college courses in criminal justice for the past several years and
is noted for his informative and enjoyable style of academia instruction both in
the traditional classroom and the online classroom environments. His years of
managerial, as well as actual hands-on experience and knowledge in relationship
to criminal investigations, police and correctional operations coupled with an
understanding of medical tests, surgical procedures, and the effects caused to
the human body, due to various trauma induced injuries allows him to give his
students an insight into various elements of criminal justice that few
instructors can.
Prof.
Beshears resides with his wife Michelle and their son Hunter in their
lake view home near
Bull Shoals & Norfork lakes in
Clarkridge, Arkansas. He also has three older daughters: Michele, Cora and
Mollye.
